Story description
Your unit is scattered. The radio is silent. The map in your pack no longer tells you where safety begins.
Behind Enemy Lines is an interactive military survival drama set in a fictional conflict. After an ambush, you are alone in contested territory, without a confirmed extraction point or a clear account of who else survived. Your goal is to find a way back, with the consequences of each decision following you.
Choose a way through hostile ground
- Read the terrain, avoid patrols, and weigh uncertain routes toward friendly lines.
- Follow rumors of surviving squadmates or an extraction opportunity that may already be gone.
- Negotiate with civilians whose loyalties, fears, and need to survive are as complicated as your own.
A farmhouse might offer shelter, exposure, or someone who needs help you cannot easily afford to give. Evasion and conversation can matter as much as combat. Violence carries weight, and every encounter asks you to judge more than who is wearing which uniform.
Read people as carefully as terrain
The people living in contested territory have been surviving this war longer than your sudden isolation suggests. A civilian's reluctance may come from fear of retaliation, a family obligation, or experience with soldiers who made promises and left. Getting help can require listening to what someone stands to lose by giving it.
You can try to move quietly, negotiate your way past an obstacle, or take a more direct risk when delay becomes dangerous. Your rank, background, and instincts emerge through the way you respond. The story leaves room for competence, uncertainty, and the strain of making decisions without a unit to share their weight.
Keep hold of the reasons to return
A rumor about another survivor can pull you away from the safest-looking route. A possible guide can offer knowledge no map contains while asking for something you cannot easily promise. The throughline is finding friendly lines or a viable extraction, but the route develops around your priorities. You decide what loyalty means when you cannot know who is still alive, how much help you can offer people caught in the conflict, and which risks you will still recognize as your own choices when the immediate danger has passed.
Getting home has a cost
This grounded war story focuses on isolation, trust, and moral pressure. Your background and approach develop through play, while the route to safety takes shape around the risks you accept.
You have made it through the ambush. What will you risk to make it through the next hour?
