Story description
A divine seat is empty. Before you can take it, you must refuse every god you could have become.
The Godseat is an interactive godhood fantasy about choosing a domain and learning what responsibility feels like once prayers are addressed to you. Summoned as a candidate, you are offered a fixed selection of divine roles. Each comes with powers, duties, and a different relationship to the people who will depend on you.
A choice with a ceremony of its own
- Consider the offered domains and what each would ask of you day after day.
- Choose one role, then formally refuse every other path, individually and aloud.
- Face the distinct responses of the possibilities you decline before the ritual seals your decision.
The refusals carry weight. Some paths may accept your answer gracefully; others may make leaving them behind uncomfortable. When the ceremony ends, your choice is final.
Consider the ordinary work behind an extraordinary title
A domain is more than a collection of powers. It determines what people come to you for, what they fear losing, and the kind of intervention they might call a miracle. A harvest-centered role would place different demands on you from one concerned with hunting, home, or things people have forgotten. The actual roles offered by the ceremony define your choice, each with a particular shape of responsibility.
During the refusals, the alternatives become personal enough to leave an impression. Declining a path means hearing its response and standing by your own answer. That makes the ceremony a chance to discover what you value before you have the power to act on it.
Find your place among established gods
Once you take the seat, divine peers have their own expectations of how its new occupant should behave. Worshippers may ask for help in ways that are moving, contradictory, or difficult to satisfy at once. You choose how to interpret the duty you accepted and how closely to involve yourself in mortal lives. Being able to answer a prayer does not settle whether the answer is wise. That uncertainty gives the story room for compassion, conflict, and a form of ambition measured by the kind of god you become.
Become the answer to someone's prayer
Your new domain shapes the adventure that follows. Worshippers bring needs and expectations, established gods judge the newcomer, and divine power makes ordinary decisions consequential in unfamiliar ways. The wider world opens through the kind of godhood you chose.
For players interested in mythology, difficult commitments, and life beyond a mortal perspective, the empty seat offers more than power. Who are you willing to become responsible for?
Characters
The vast, patient presence administering the summoning ritual and the binding refusal ceremony - speaks directly into the player's understanding of language itself.
