Story description
The city went quiet three weeks ago. You have learned which sounds mean you should run.
What's Left is an interactive post-apocalyptic survival horror story about scarcity, uncertainty, and the people you choose to keep alive. A fast-moving infection has emptied a city of millions. The infected still roam its streets, and rumors of a military quarantine offer more questions than a reliable way out.
Every supply run asks something of you
- Search for food, clean water, medicine, and shelter without drawing the wrong attention.
- Choose who to help when sharing supplies could leave you short tomorrow.
- Follow uncertain leads toward safety or make somewhere defensible enough to stay.
Injuries linger. Noise carries. Other survivors have their own fears and loyalties, and desperation can make a potential ally more dangerous than an empty street. Trust may become the most valuable thing you have left.
The city remembers the life it used to have
A place that once meant convenience can now be difficult to approach. Shops, apartment buildings, and familiar routes have become questions of visibility, noise, and whether anyone else got there first. Finding something useful is only part of the problem; getting it back to somewhere safe may ask more of you than the search itself.
The infected respond to movement and sound, leaving little room for careless confidence. Information is scarce as well. Survivors disagree about risks, routes, and whether the quarantine rumors can be trusted. Acting on a half-reliable account may still be better than staying where supplies are running out.
Decide what survival should look like
You might try to stay alone, build a dependable group, or put everything into reaching the city's edge. Each approach changes which people you encounter and what you need from them. Someone who needs help today could become essential tomorrow; someone who seems well prepared could be hiding the cost of that preparation. Sharing a quiet meal or finding a room where you can finally rest gives the larger choices something to protect. Staying alive is urgent, but the life you are preserving still needs a shape.
Small moments of safety matter
The tension builds through decisions and uneasy encounters: an untouched room, a working radio, a stranger who knows a route you do not. Quiet relief matters as much as the danger outside the door.
For players drawn to grounded infection survival and difficult human choices, the next day is still unwritten. Who will be beside you when it arrives?
