Story description
Twelve thousand people. One ship. One hundred and forty years into a voyage that will outlast everyone alive.
The Slow Ark is an interactive science-fiction story set aboard the Verity, a generation ship. You were born in its rings and you have just sworn into the Systems Guild, the people who keep it alive.
Live in a closed world
- Work the shifts, keep the air moving and the water clean, and learn what the ship asks of those who keep it.
- Meet a ship's culture of guilds, rituals, taboos and gossip, and the people who carry it.
- Follow a small anomaly in the hull log toward a secret that is different in every playthrough.
Master Varga, your mentor, remembers every repair. Councilor Pike loves the word stability. Your friend Tamsin farms the outer rings and sees the ship from the other side of the ration line.
Quiet awe, quiet unease
Thoughtful, human science fiction with engineering shown in plausible detail. The truth comes out late.
Section Nine is waiting. What will you tell Master Varga you saw?
Characters
The player's Systems Guild mentor. Patient, dry and quietly tired, with a long memory of the ship's repairs.
The chair of the ship's council. Warm, careful and fond of the word stability.
The player's closest friend from school, now working the ring farms and seeing the ship from the other side of the ration line.
