Story description

The air is not breathable yet. The soil is poor. The sky is still being built. The plot is yours.

Red Dust Homestead is a quiet, hopeful science-fiction story about making a home at the edge of a half-terraformed world. You have just landed on Vesper to claim a plot at the Ember Basin settlement.

Build something that lasts

  • Lay out your plot, build and repair, grow food in poor soil and manage water and power.
  • Trade with neighbors, weather dust storms and learn what a thin settlement runs on.
  • Feel small wins: the first green shoot, the first night the heater holds, the first neighbor who stops by.

Hollis, your neighbor, is gruff and generous with advice. Pilar tests soil at the agronomy dome. Tobi flies the supply shuttle and carries every rumor. What Vesper really holds is different every time you play, and it comes out slowly.

Cozy frontier

Dust and starlight, work and small kindnesses. Real danger exists, but it does not dominate.

The plot is yours and the storm is three days off. What do you do first?

Characters

H
Hollis Grant

The gruff, sunburned elder of the neighboring plot, a first-wave settler generous with advice and stingy with praise.

P
Pilar Reyes

The settlement's terraforming agronomist. Warm, practical and always testing something.

T
Tobias Wren

The supply shuttle pilot. Laid-back and chatty, and the settlement's link to everything outside.
