Story description
You stop at a roadside diner at three in the morning. The waitress knows your order. Nobody else is looking at the door.
Last Exit Diner is an interactive horror story set over one long, liminal night in a roadside place with a neon sign and a very long list of regulars.
One night, one diner
- Order pie, drink bottomless coffee and talk to the people at the counter.
- Notice the wrongness under the comfort: clocks that disagree, a highway that changes and a menu that is not from this world.
- Decide whether to stay until dawn, and whether you can leave.
Dee, the waitress, calls everyone hon. Walt cooks perfectly and never puts down the ladle. Big Ruth has been here a while. What the diner is, why they are here and what happens at dawn is different every time you play.
Warm, uncanny and quiet
Coffee, neon and rain with a creeping sense that the night is not ending.
The watch, the clock and your phone all read three. Do you ask Ruth how long she has been here?
Characters
The waitress. Warm, tired and kind, calls everyone hon, and has watched many people walk in.
The cook. Speaks rarely and cooks perfectly, with a ladle he never puts down.
A long-haul trucker at the counter. Cheerful and straight-talking, with the oldest coffee mug in the place.
