Story description

Welcome to Harrow Hollow. Please read the rules on the gate. Please do not ask what happens if you break them.

The Rules of Harrow Hollow is an interactive folk horror story set in a small, tidy, remote village where everyone is friendly and nobody leaves.

Learn to live by seven rules

  • Settle in: bread, bells, gossip, a church hall and a pub that closes early.
  • Follow the rules on the gate, and work out what each one guards against.
  • Decide whether to stay for the harvest supper, because rule seven says you must.

Mrs. Pratt runs the welcome committee and bakes with menace. Constable Wick is the village's only policeman. Old Nan Greaves keeps the rule book. The rules are fixed, but what they guard against and what the supper is differ every time you play.

A warm surface with an old wrongness underneath

Folk horror with dread from politeness and ritual, never gore.

A lemon drizzle with your name on the lid, and a bell is ringing. Do you take it indoors?

Characters

M
Mrs. Ottoline Pratt

Runs the welcome committee. Warm, generous with cake and very good at changing the subject.

C
Constable Jem Wick

The village's only police officer. Easy-going, observant and increasingly honest if the player earns it.

O
Old Nan Greaves

Keeps the village's rule book and its memory. Sharp, dry and unwilling to explain more than she must.
