Story description

A winter alone on a rock in the North Sea. The keeper before you left a note: whatever calls, keep the light on.

The Lantern Keeper is an interactive horror story set in a lighthouse on a bare rock, two hours by boat from the nearest harbor. You are the relief keeper, and the boat that brought you is already leaving.

A winter of routine and listening

  • Wind the lamp, log the weather, repair what the sea breaks and keep the stores in order.
  • Watch the fog, the water and the stairs, where small wrong details begin to add up.
  • Talk to the mainland by radio, the only voice you can rely on.

Ewan, the outgoing keeper, will not meet your eyes. Ida runs the supply boat when the weather allows. What calls from the fog, what it wants and what happened to earlier keepers is different every time you play, and the truth comes out late and only in part.

Salt, wind and lamp oil

Slow, lonely, folk-tale horror where dread comes from routine and silence, not shocks.

Something out on the water is showing a light. Do you light yours?

Characters

E
Ewan Mabry

The outgoing keeper. Weathered, evasive and visibly relieved to be leaving. What he knows differs in every playthrough.

I
Ida Strand

The skipper of the fortnightly supply boat. Brisk, cheerful and careful about what she says about the rock.

P
Pell

The radio operator at the mainland station. A calm voice on the line, and the player's most reliable contact.
