Story description

Your great-aunt left you a house on Marrow Lane. To keep it, you must sleep there for thirty nights.

Marrow Lane is an interactive gothic horror story played over thirty days and nights in a tall, narrow house that has a rule about who may leave.

Days to explore, nights to endure

  • By day, clean, repair, research, talk to neighbors and visit the library and the solicitor.
  • By night, listen: to the walls, the stairs and whatever is learning your habits.
  • Work out the rules of the house, and decide whether the house is worth it.

Mr. Arkwright, the solicitor, is uneasy about the clause. Mrs. Kovacs watches from across the lane. Biscuit the cat has been here all along. What haunts the house and what the thirty nights are for is different every time you play, and the truth comes out late.

English gothic, slow and dry

Dread from small wrongness and quiet, with dry wit by day.

The envelope is to be read tonight. Do you wait until dark?

Characters

M
Mr. Desmond Arkwright

The great-aunt's solicitor. Precise, courteous and obviously uneasy about the condition.

M
Mrs. Eleni Kovacs

The neighbor across the lane, who watches the house from behind her net curtains and knows more than she first admits.

B
Biscuit

The great-aunt's grey cat. Aloof, observant, never leaves the house, and the first to notice when something is wrong.
