Story description
A girl was found dead on the breakwater twenty years ago. A man went to prison. Hardly anyone in town believes it.
The Cold File is an interactive detective mystery set in the harbor town of Saltmere. You are the newest detective in the county's cold case unit, and the first file on your desk is the one nobody wanted reopened.
Read what was written, notice what was not
- Work through old statements, evidence boxes, photographs and timelines, and look for what does not add up.
- Question witnesses who remember it differently now, and decide whom to press and whom to leave alone.
- Work with Nell, the records clerk who knows where everything is filed, and face Walter Quill, the proud detective who closed the case.
Who killed Ingrid Vale, and why, is different every time you play, and the truth comes out late. Ingrid's sister Cass has waited twenty years for an answer and trusts nobody from the sheriff's office.
A town that moved on badly
Quiet, patient and atmospheric, with real grief under the investigation. Danger comes rarely and costs something.
The file is open and the sister is waiting. Which one do you reach for first?
Characters
The sheriff's office records clerk. Precise and dry, she knows where everything is filed and what went missing, and she is loyal to the truth.
The retired lead investigator of the original case. Proud, defensive and tired. What he hides differs in every playthrough.
Ingrid Vale's younger sister, now in her thirties. She has asked for the file reopened every year and distrusts anyone from the sheriff's office.
