Story description

Wexmoor, 1887. The fog is thick, the Constabulary is busy and a client has just put a brass key on your desk.

The Lamplight Inquiries is an interactive Victorian mystery. You are an independent inquiry agent in a city of gaslight, rail yards and society houses, and you take the cases the police cannot or will not touch.

Observe, question, deduce

  • Read a room, notice what is out of place and follow leads through fog, pawnshops and parlors.
  • Question clients and suspects, and put a case together from small facts.
  • Work with Inspector Crane, who is honest and wary, and Dr. Hale, who reads what the body says.

Mrs. Quine, your landlady, is a retired actress who hears everything. Who did it, what happened and which cases follow are different every time you play, and the truth comes out late.

Gaslight and dry wit

Atmospheric period mystery with sharp deduction. Danger is real but never gratuitous.

A brass key lies on the blotter and someone has just left the front door. What do you do first?
